Holiday in Romania
24 June Bike to Botiza
Monday was the warmest day of our holiday I believe. From a man in bar we learned it was pentru
(forty) degrees. We climbed left from the Viseu valley into the smaller Iza valley. Typical all
traditional houses are made of dark wood here. However, many new houses are being constructed
along the road, leaving little left of the rural atmosphere we saw at the other side of the Prislop pass
yesterday. The valley is known for its wooden churches. In every village, you will also find a new large stone orthodox church. At Sieu, we turned left and cycled to the small town of Botiza. This
appeared to be a good choice. We slept in Pensiune Maria, which we highly recommend to other
people. It is just before the entrance of the centre of the village to the left over a small bridge. She
called all her neighbourghs to bring along food and milk for our dinner. She had a small garden from
which we got fresh salad.
