Holiday in Romania27 June Bike to Baie MareOur last bike day was to Baie Mare (big mine). First we visited the small market, where everybody buys its new scythe and whetstone. We did not take to large road, but the smaller road to the east that headed to Cavnic. This was also a long climb up to the 1,039m Neteda pass and considered the southern limit of the Maramures border. We entered in the Mures County. Cavnic is not a nice place to stay. We went quickly to Baie Mare, where we slept in an old communist but decent and cetrally located hotel called Bucuresti. The recommended minerulo hotel was closed for renovation. In the afternoon, we already went to the station too see the timetables (our train left the next day at 6.20am). In the evening, we found a good restaurant from the Rough guide called Dealul florilor. It is just outside the city centre to the Maramures village museum and on the foot of the hill. You have a good view over the city from the terrace.
